Selway - Bitterroot Wilderness Map, North Half product image

The Selway-Bitterroot Wilderness Map produced by the US Forest Service contains the most up-to-date information on access roads, trails, campsites, terrain, and points of interest within the Selway-Bitterroot Wilderness. All wilderness maps contain contour lines, a topographic quad index and contact phone numbers, and the vast majority contain planning tips and descriptions of the terrain.

Selway-Bitterroot is the third largest Wilderness in the Lower 48. The Wilderness straddles both sides of the Bitterroot Range, which stands along the Montana-Idaho border and includes the Wild and Scenic Selway River, all of which flows through Idaho.

This vast wildland is one of the roughest mountain areas on earth, a country of high ridges dropping off into steep-walled canyons. A number of streams and more than 100 lakes offer excellent trout fishing. Hardly any humans visit the huge trailless portions of this Wilderness, which makes it all the more appealing for the large Selway elk herd, plus deer, moose, black bears, and mountain lions.
